OmniFocus 2 Reviews

  • Wonderful!

    By Zxcgggggbg55554
Update I just keep coming back.....though I stray from time to time.... Gave 5stars....even though I want proper sub tasks, still think this is a top app....would like also to add a task from a perspective!! Why not? Other apps can do this to the root project..? Needs to added then I would rate this 6 stars! Thanks The bad - cost The good - everything else! I was a 'things' user for years, but as they have forgotten about their users for too long I decided to jump ship! I am so glad I did....this is nothing short of revolutionary! Over the years I have bought most gtd type apps on the store and spent time using them, but have always felt a little disappointed with them in one way or another....not so with omnifocus- this just fits into how I want to do things, and if you take time time to get to grips with it, you will be organised and happy I am sure....thanks
  • Held to ransom

    By 0100100101000111
I bought into what was a promising app with much potential subsequently unrealised by it’s developers who have shown little ambition or interest in meeting user needs over time which in my view is a breach of covenant. This updated version 2 appears stagnant and as such serves no additional useful purpose as far as I can see other than continuing to allow it to function post iOS 11 update providing you pay what amounts to a ransom. After updating to the trial version I exported my data to CSV and deleted the app. I intend doing something similar for all OMNI apps across all devices, because the initial costs are excessive as-is the on-going cost of updates. # In response to the developers response. Correct, I obviously have not committed to owning V2. I’m here because the prior version gave notice that the developer would need to update the app to work with iOS11, which I mistaking thought would happen as nothing was communicated to the contrary. Then post iOS11 the app no longer launches and there’s no update, I am without access to my data, which is unforgivable. I’m left with no choice but to turn here to V2 to access my existing data, which I couldn’t do until I manually moved the database using a Mac and a third party app. Correct, I was given a trial and an entitlement by V2 to a discounted ransom along with a two week deadline to cough up if I wished to continue with my Omnifocus data post iOS11. 21 updates of V2 you say? By way of an example, that’s 21 missed opportunities to deliver something as basic as providing for deleting many 100’s of completed tasks some other way than one at a time, a simple but fundamental need ignored across V1. The purchase models for your products have kept me from further purchases and now completely driven me away.
  • Absolutely amazing app

    By mYNewMacbook
Only thing I can fault really is lack of sharing, which is pretty huge. They do say it’s a personal task manager which is true but many of us share projects, OF fails at this.
  • Now useless if you don’t want WatchOS 4

    By Mr Clump
Omnigroup in their wisdom have removed support for WatchOS 3 with the latest update. I don’t want to upgrade to WatchOS 4 due to Apple removing features I rely on, so now I lose Omnifocus if I stay on 3. Some warning would have been nice. 😡
  • Great app let down by poor sync setup

    By FieldAgent
No matter what I do, I can't get Omni's sync service to log me in. Life is too short to mess with this stuff, so I'm reluctantly going back to an app that just syncs via iCloud without me having do do anything.
  • 1st Class App

    By Pro Bookkeeper
This is simply an amazing app! I've used many apps for my routines, projects and reminders, but this is literally the first to deliver the main parts I've ever wanted in a ToDo app. For me, the Perspectives are what make this whole app work so well, especially once I'd got my head around how the Projects and Contexts work. Took me some time to get everything setup, but once set up this app is magical. Love that you can select which Perspective shows in the Notifications Centre on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. All in all, very impressed!
  • Don't download it thinking it's free

    By kevin2000hk
This is a trial version only, with expensive in app purchases to unlock the full version. Avoid if you think the greedy developers changed their mind from letting you pay for a mobile, GTD app that costs almost the same as a one-year office 365 subscription!
  • Pro Upgrade broken

    By Mystrd
Cannot upgrade using restore purchase as an Omnifocus 1 customer. Also 10.3 requirement? Restore purchase working fine on iPad running older version so do NOT upgrade until fixed!
  • Excellent

    By Maayub
This app simply delivers and is simple to use. Despite the price tag the functionality it provides makes it worth it so don't be put off by the price. Adding tasks and keeping track really makes task management and GTD a lot easier!
  • Hmm OmniFocus have some serious competition

    By Triton1000
Generally like this app although quite expensive for what it is. Now things 3 is out OmniFocus are going to have to up their game. Will be migrating to things 3 as it looks beautiful unless OmniFocus come up with something as pleasing and intuitive to use.
  • Awesome!!

    By MartynRawr
Task management at its best!! My precious....
  • Life changing

    By Ian Harvey
Coupled with David Allen's GTD book, this app has been life changing for me. Is it perfect? No. Is it continually improving? Yes. Worth every penny, but at its best when coupled with the Mac version.
  • GTD done well

    By kkll
I love that OmniFocus allows splitting tasks into sub tasks recursively without any limits. It allows me to break down even biggest projects into actionable small tasks.
  • I keep coming back

    By Thealbs
I am a bit of an App switcher and have tried most GTD Apps over the years. I keep coming back to OF as it is simply the most fully featured and - if I can control myself(!) - supports an optimal workflow. I only hope they introduce multiple contexts per Task v soon (hence 4 rather than 5 stars). Support is excellent from their Support Humans too.
  • Expensive but worth it

    By millipz
This is a rock solid GTD system. If you have it on the Mac, getting the iOS app is a no brainer. I found it hard to get along with other options, but for me this just works. And the high price just motivates me to get the most out of it! My favourite feature is the reliable location based reminders. The one thing that is missing from the iOS app is batch editing of items (if this is added it would be 5 stars easily). Thanks Omni Group!
  • Good iPhone app. Not good on Apple Watch

    By ELastic_Refrigerator
Switched to a different app because the watch app crashes. Seems like you have to restart the watch to get it running again but then a few more tries and another crash.
  • the best, yes, expensive, yes, complacency? yes

    By footlooseboss
I spent ~£60 on this to have my current tasks shown on my watch. Unfortunately it freezes every other time I try to open it. I can understand bugs in a new release but the latest was 24 days ago. Reliability should come first. When that has been achieved, I would like to see the context of tasks, e.g. vacuum kitchen vacuum lounge
  • Nice product / increasing number of bugs

    By SkyePlayer
This is a very useful product. Unfortunately its usefulness is marred by an increasing number of bugs which get in the way of getting things done efficiently. Lots of these appear to be already known about according to support staff. Rather than develop too-highly priced new options, could you please focus on providing quality software?
  • Excellent app

    By Bobegerton
Very pleased with this app. Installed it on Mac and on iPad and iPhone. Now I am up to date at all times wherever I am. Not cheap, but worth it.
  • Omnifocus not working for Apple Watch

    By jmurphy84
What is otherwise a superb app has been soured by issues with the Apple Watch app. I can't get it to install. I've been trying for weeks. It was working but it appears the upgrade of iOS is now longer compatible. Considering how expensive the app is to upgrade this isn't really acceptable.
