Speak the language like you’ve always wanted to. You don’t sound like a robot when you speak in your mother tongue (no offence to real robots reading this), so why learn a new language only to talk like one? We want to get you confidently speaking a language like you’ve always wanted, not just memorising a list of vocabulary words or learning sentences you’ll never use. Give us a go – your first lesson is free! LEARNING WITH BABBEL : • 14 languages available: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Polish, English, Indonesian, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian. Probably best you don’t try them all at once. • Made by humans – expert linguists are behind all of our courses. We keep them warm and well-fed. • Choose courses on topics you care about, and learn what matters to you. • 15 minute lessons (on average) – learn without upsetting your calendar (we know how sensitive it can be). • Progress is synced across all devices, and all content can be downloaded for offline use. So you can learn anytime and anywhere, except in your sleep (we’re still working on that technology). • Review Manager – helps you keep new vocabulary up there once you’ve learnt it. • Easy to use – simple and clear interface. • We’re also available on Apple Watch – another easy way to practice on the go. Babbel – Learn English, Spanish & more languages Reviews

  • Best app eve

    By kóōlkÃt
This app is really good because I can learn any language and I'm only 13 years of age and I'm still using this even though I got it when I was 11 years of age. I have been learning Irish and Hindi for the last 2 years and I can now speak fluent in both languages thanks to Babbel! I recommend downloading it!
  • This app is great, but could still be improved

    By Freshwest
I last studied French over 40 years ago at school, but I've barely used it since then. This time, I've got my head down with it and really made headway. And altho there are some niggles (such as when re-doing lessons, always having to go through the vocab sections at the start, to get to the nitty gritty grammar stuff, which is much harder to learn), I still credit it with my being able to improve my grasp of the language exponentially. There are separate grammar lessons, but I'd still like to be able to re-do the first ones more quickly. But I like it anyway. I'll never bother with a language learning book again, though, that's for sure.
  • Its not free!

    By Peachynifty
I really enjoyed the first lesson, went back on the second day and it directed me to pay! No mention of this when I went to download. Why?? So I shall now uninstall. Would have been really great if you had shared that with me in advance! Disappointed.
  • Doesn't Work

    By Griggs6543
I was on holiday in Brazil and was impressed by the functionality of the free version of the app. Unfortunately once I had subscribed and starting using the newly unlocked lessons the speech recognition did not work remotely like in the trial lessons. Even my Brazilian partner could not get app to acknowledge the correct pronunciation. Complete waste of money. Don't buy!!!
  • It's not free

    By Honeybunnie28
It claims that this app only "offers in app purchases " but when you get near enough level two you have to pay a monthly subscription. If you are willing to pay this I would say it is quite good.!
  • Great potential

Great potential but can we get Japanese please?
  • Great App

    By Traysie196326
I tried another app before this one and much prefer the Babbel one. As a beginner I'm finding it steady and manageable progress. Easy to use on both laptop and mobile. I'm very happy with it and would recommend 👍
  • What a Brilliant App

First impressions always count and babbel has delivered perfectly on this. An app that's catchy, easy and simple to pick up languages. I have to learn bokmål for a course at university and even though I've only been on the course for three days now, I have been able to pick norsk go far quicker than I expected and was amazed at the coverage of such an obscure language! I have even been able to have basic conversations with friends I have in Scandinavia and Babbel has helped me to do this. Thanks so much guys and keep up the great work!! Strongly recommend!
  • South/central American Spanish

    By Phunky_dude
If you're looking to learn actual Spanish then it's pointless because it's designed for South American speaking. 🙄 so you just end up sounding wrong.
  • 😩😩

    By Big Dick Abzy
its great but you have to spend£44.99 a year😩😂😂😭😭
  • Fab app! Highly recommended

This app is incredibly good!!! I am making so much progress! I am loving it! It's smart, simple, user friendly and efficient!
  • Not happy

    By Rosieeeeeeeeeeeeee134678
The first lessons was good but you have to pay a lot a month to get the rest! Would be good if you could do more than 1 until you have to pay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • Not a lot of variety

    By Kleio96
While the app does offer a great deal of variety in ways of learning in a compact app form, pretty much ahead of its competitors from what I've seen (Memrise gets close), it doesn't offer much in terms of selection of languages. It offers a lot of European languages, especially the Nordics. Obviously the most spoken English, French, German and Spanish are provided. It is most definitely lacking in languages from other continents. It does provide Russian, however, I was looking for Japanese. While I have had a play at some basics with Russian and Swedish out of interest, unless Japanese is provided I'm not interested in paying a subscription of any kind. I do like the review features which beat other similar apps. The ability to review them in flashcard form, through usual learning or through straight up cycling through them (audio and visuals provided) is a highlight. The pictures don't really match the word well and thus make the tactic of using a visual memory to associate words with is difficult. Perhaps a feature which allows you to draw your own pictures/flashcard associations would be beneficial. If they indeed provide Japanese in the future, it will be vital in memorising kanji. The Russian course was superior to the Swedish course as it seemed to give much a more in-depth look into the language and how it is pronounced and written as opposed to the Swedish course which just seemed to provide the usual fair of translated sentences/words/phrases to memorise in a format exactly the same as competitor apps. Ultimately, there are improvements to be made but not a bad app if it provides the language you want to learn.
  • Great app!!

    By 1010001000
Babbel in my opinion is the best language learning app because for example unlike other language learning apps babbel explains the differences and when to use different verb forms such as the subjunctive, reflexive etc.
  • Great app

    By FireyPhil
Easy to use, good logical processes and I'm learning a lot at a pace that suits me. Would highly recommend

    By Henbo
Twice I've had to contact this company to stop auto renewing payments. I used once for 6 months as a promotional trial now I can't stop them charging my PayPal account.
  • It's okay

    By Elol01😎
Babbel is okay as it is great fun until they say you have to pay.i was really enjoying it then they said you have to pay for a lesson which I was really sad about, the app is free just not the lessons
  • Too difficult

    By Kimywall
Really disappointed by this app gets too difficult too soon and so very easy to lose interest and very difficult to unsubscribe still not sure whether they will just renew my subscription as I didn't get the cancellation email and on my acct info it does not make it clear as to whether I have been unsubscribe or not very very annoying
  • Great app!

    By Mattttttttttttgggggggggggg
Great app if you're commited to learn Spanish. Whilst It's a bit slow to get started and not hugely entertainingly or varied, it's very simple and teaches you step by step in a clear and progressive manner. Id definitely recommend. I'd like to see a few more interesting games and breaks from the standard lesson format to keep it exciting though!
  • There's always a catch.

    By Wagawun
I thought this app was great until I found out you had to pay for the rest.
