The motion sensor can either turn off or return to the last state of inactivity. Philips has made it "app of the month" 3 times: iConnectHue was made to be powerful, but still solves complex tasks with ease. This all comes in a nice clean package. It's possibly the only app you will need for your Philips Hue Lights! iConnectHue is also available for the iPad: "iConnectHue HD" has even better usability thanks to the larger iPad screen. iConnectHue for Philips Hue Reviews

  • Great but too expensive

First of all, it is as good as the other reviewers say. Really opens up the possibilities and it let me do what I wanted with the motion sensor which the official Hue app doesn’t allow. But, it does have to be said the app is expensive. The £4.99 original price is fantastic value but you then have to pay for so much more. Want a household member to be acknowledged so the lights stay on when they’re home but you leave? That’s another £4.99 for them. Want the great animations? That’s £1.99 - per group (see update below)! Magic scenes? Widget editor? Animation editor? Apple Watch control? All cost extra, and the price of adding another bridge is a further £3.99 - which in itself would be a pricey app. I do understand that an app like this requires a ton of developer input, but equally there must be a balance. A cheaper or free app with in-app purchases or a higher original price with all features would be more palatable. Right now it’s a high entry price with relatively expensive in-app purchases, which are needed to get the great features that make the app worth having over its competitors. Update following developer response: I should have clarified that I meant group of animations, not light groups. Regarding other users, I don’t believe that Apple Family Sharing should be a requirement. Few users will set that up just so their lights stay on when their spouse is still home. And finally with regards to pricing, there are various ways to handle it - Tweetbot charges for every major update, other apps have a higher entry price or a lower entry price with in-app purchases. This app has a premium download price to begin with and then charges even more for the features you downloaded it for in the first place. Of course we want a good widget etc, the whole point of buying the app is to have something better than the official Hue app. It’s a kick in the teeth to buy an app only to discover the useful stuff requires more money, just be honest upfront and charge £8 or £10 for the download.
  • By far the most advanced way to use Hue

This app is by far the best way to get the most out of your Hue lights. Having used it for well over a year now I can honestly say it is my favourite app for automating my lights. It opens up the possibilities for the switches by allowing users to alter what the buttons do depending on various preconditions such as other lights being on or off, time of day, people being in the house or not etc. This granular level of control is very very good!
  • Best Hue App

This is by far the best Hue app for iPhone. There just isn’t anything like it - just buy it!
  • It’s like the official app on Steriods

This app goes far beyond what you can do with the standard Philips app. Can be a bit of a learning curve getting used to what this app can do but it’s worth it. I don’t even use the official app anymore, this is simply the best Hue app there is. If you want your Hue lights to do something, anything, then this app makes it possible.
  • Better than the Philips app

It must be hard being on the app development team at Philips HQ. When a third party app is more feature rich and reliable than your own, you know it’s time to up your game. The biggest surprise to me is that iConnectHue manages to solve the multiple bridge issue that the Philips team just seem unable/unwilling to do. From one App developer to another, hats off to you Crossfire - you’ve done a fine job here. One very minor note - aesthetically the app is quite ‘busy’ in some areas for my tastes, I think a little minimalism could go a long way to making this app perfect.
  • Just keeps getting better

With every update new features and improvements are made to this already great app. I strongly recommend purchasing a generous selection of the in-app additions, which are well worth the small fee, and help to fund the future development of features and fixes.
  • A great idea but...

I find it to be quite inconsistent. I mainly use this app to provide the motion sensor features missed by the Philips Hue app. Lights will often remain on even when there's no motion in the room. When there is motion you'll frequently find that several lights within a group won't react at all or will turn on but with the wrong colour temperature. As a result I have not bothered purchasing any of the extras - I fear they will suffer from the same inconsistencies. Would be an awesome app if it worked.

Using this to control two bridges and it's great!

Brilliant app, opens up the endless configuration of the Hue system that the Hue does not. I didn't realise it was possible to configure all the buttons on a remote to do different things and each button will perform different actions depending on a single press or holding it for a couple of seconds.
  • Very good.

Once I got the hang of it I was very pleased I purchased the app. My only complaint is the lack of an operating manual for the less computer savvy.

Able to pair my old livingcolors lights. The hue bridge app won't let you do this.
  • Simply the Best!

This is by far the best app for using Hue lights - I've got about 30 now and loads of devices so managing them all takes a bit of doing... This app makes it a breeze! Had to pay extra for multiple bridge support but worth the money as it's far better than the original hue app for that, and pretty much everything else. Thanks to the developers for creating an excellent solution. Cheers.

I wish it was a universal app. I've bought it once for my phone, so why'd I ha e to buy it again for my iPad?
  • Was good, but update has broken widget

Up to now has been great, but update seems to have broken the size of the widget. I had it set up with 5 rows of buttons, but now the height seems limited to a row and a half. Sure it's just a temporary bug. Hopefully fixed soon.

Initially I was concerned about spending money on an app when my Hue lights came with one and I can use HomeKit. Boy am I glad I had. I've now purchased all the in-app bits as this app is fantastic. Intuitive and work flawlessly. If you are worried about buying this, DONT, just get it and get going with your Hues how they are meant to be.
  • The BEST Hue App By Far

Ok so if it's the BEST then why not 5⭐️? Quite simply the lack of Siri/HomeKit support. It would be so easy to give this app five stars if it wasn't for this. Ok so that's downside out of the way so what's good about this app? Why should you part with your hard earned currency for this app after you already spent all that money on bulbs, dimmers, taps and motion sensors? Personally I got hooked on buying into the Philips Hue range and have kitted out most of my house now with colours, whites, dimmers taps and motion sensors. I downloaded the official Hue app and had my house lighting up and running fairly quickly but I was soon left thinking 'well this is good but it's not great' then I found this app. It's a bit confusing to start with especially after figuring out how to set everything up with the official app I then had to learn how to use someone else's rendition of an app which essentially did the same thing just in a slightly more confusing manner. With this app you can fine tune everything that you can't with the official app, you can make your motion sensor do things you wished it would (and stop it turning lights off during the day), you can make your Hue taps and dimmers do different things depending on whether you press or hold the button, depending on what time of day it is, you can control different lamps in different rooms or groups with different button presses even program animations to start and stop the possibilities are almost endless, it just doesn't get any better! I would at this point just say to get this technical with the app does take about the same brain power as doing an medium sodoku puzzle but it does get easier as you go on. This app is quite easily worth every penny and I wouldn't begrudge buying any in app purchases you may need either - after all if we all keep paying a small amount the app can only get better! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great app that is fully supported by the developers. Why can't Philips create such an app that is after all their products. This is strange when their lights and devices though not cheap are very good.
