Blinkist - Always Learning Reviews

  • I really want to subscribe to this but…

    By sound_of_wall
Tried several times to start a subscription and/or a free trial. The app just hung and said please wait. In the end I could see that I was subscribed on my Settings. But I had no access to any content, and it kept telling me to subscribe even though I am already subscribed. It’s a shame because I really wanted to pay for this product. But it’s usable. If you would like me as a customer then please reply to this review. Thank you.
  • My favourite app

    By A_mes
A really great idea realised for everyone*. The blinks are well put together and easy to digest, as promised. Basically, if you enjoy reading, you’ll love this. I can’t give it a full 5 stars as I feel it is not inclusive to all; you need to be able to part with the fee in one lump sum or you’re unable to access this. A monthly payment option should be available to ensure readers of all incomes can benefit from this super app.
  • Subscription help needed

    By PaulMdx
Signed up for a monthly subscription but app still upgraded me and charged me. Dealt with support who were very helpful.
  • Should be 5 star

    By Berry1981
But it has some little niggling bugs that are causing frustration. Audio play is the culprit for them for me. Stops playing 10 seconds in or plays the summary and story at same time. Seems to struggle with apples media controls.
  • Can’t create login

    By coffee-obsessed
Trying to create a login just hangs the app. Without getting past that stage, you can’t use the app.
  • Great idea, deeper summaries needed

    By Arhsx
+ Amazing, extremely useful idea + Surprisingly rich collection of top books - A longer, more complete version of each book should be offered. Some books are covered poorly and superficially with core concepts gone missing because they can't possibly be summarized in 15 minutes. - Since the subscription cost is high more pricing options should be offered - More tech related books please
  • Simple and simply beautiful

    By Qamberm
Though I didn't subscribe yet, this is a really useful app, the subscription costs nothing in relation to buying the book and it's worth the time saved with this app. Hope you guys won't stop adding books.
  • Initially free trial did not work

    By philip.wood86
I heard good things about the content but unfortunately after agreeing to the free trial, I still could not access the content. The app invited me to ‘upgrade’, even though I had agreed to the free trial and the automatic renewal of the annual membership. UPDATE After going through the settings to restore the connection the free trial has started! The content is good and gives short but useful summaries.
  • WHAT

    By 93dance
I downloaded this app as the premise is amazing. 7 day free trial? YES PLEASE. Except there are no books available on the free trial. Deleting and cancelling.
  • Great concept, a few improvements needed

    By G1567fgh
The content library needs to increase. Many books I want to look up are not on there. There are lots of glitches on playback. Sometimes it gets stuck. Sometimes it skips. Not often but often enough to annoy. Generally good though.
  • Avoid

    By Deryl47
Year's membership fee required up-front are usually the reserve of those services that KNOW most people will stop using them very quickly (e.g. such as gyms etc.) Avoid!
  • It’s a great service , but the price model is not right for me

    By dpsharp
I would like this service but the cheapest is £50 upfront and thats not with (in my view) essential audio and kindle features. A real shame which I believe puts it beyond the reach of many with numerous “for the price of a cup of coffee a day” services. There should be a pay as you go , cancel anytime service. I know it means you need to manage “user churn” but the product needs to be out there. No idea what the licensing deals are so may be nothing that can be done but £50/£80 upfront is simply too much to ask.
  • Addictive

    By Tillyjan
I love reading but like most people these days I am too busy to read as much as I would like. This app allows me to explore a huge range of interesting books that I either benefit from reading just the blinks or can buy the books to read more. I will purchase a subscription but wish there was an option for 6 monthly payment.
  • Excellent App

    By Ibn_alemarat
I was not so optimistic at the beginning when I used this App. But now I'm convinced it's one of the best if not the best in summarizing books.
  • Expensive

    By Charlietwice
On signing up I was given the option of paying monthly/yearly or receiving one book per day. I chose the latter as £60 per year was a bit much based on a 24 hour tryout. I did not get the one book a day that was promised so I deleted the app. The few books I did see were ok and if you have the money, probably worth it. The one book a day would have been fine but where did it go?
  • Great idea, bad system

    By wingled
Great potential, I really enjoyed what I got to see upon downloading it. However, ONE DAY is a ridiculous amount of time for a trial period. Second, I probably would subscribe, and I almost never pay for apps, but I think it’s pretty annoying that they insist on taking a year’s payment in one go. They should have more trust in their content and give the option to pay monthly, and to subscribe at any time, or at least a few months at a time. There’s no way I’m paying a whole year up front for an app I only get one day to actually look at. Nevertheless, it’s a cool concept and I commend the developers and wish them luck.
  • Great idea, pity about the bugs

    By danand725
I do like the idea. I’ve used the app quite a lot over the last few weeks, but I keep running into the same bugs, even after this update. On my iPad, on the search screen, there is no way of escaping back to any other part of the app. You’d think that would be something that would be discovered in testing. I have a recent iPad, but there’s no cancel button displayed. I have to quit the app to escape the search screen. The app also isn’t great offline. When traveling on the London Underground, the app won’t auto play downloaded audio, or store the playback position to upload later. Very frustrating. Other than that, the selection of books and quality of the text / audio is great.
  • Advertising

    By Simon147147
In your advert you make the claim: "the app all CEO's love". Clearly this is not true. You should also know that "nonfiction" is not a word. It should have a hyphen. You also make the highly unlikely claim that the average CEO reads 60 books per year. This is completely implausible. Please provide a reputable source for this claim. If you can address these issues in your response, I will change my rating. Otherwise I will report your advertisement to Facebook for making false representations.
  • Very limited without purchasing content

    By SPCarson
Most content needs unlocked with a membership, seems misleading
  • Limited number of boos

    By Pagitis
Selection of books could really be more diverse.
