  • Love this app

I've had this app for a year or two, use it frequently. I purchased the UK voice, which has a good sound, it's nice change from the built in, you get male and female, and can change speed via words-per-minute. I like that I can listen in the background while playing cards, or even have the screen switched off. It does have a tendency to quit once about a minute in to reading when I have it open in the background, but it's not the only app I have that does this, so maybe a ios problem or just my ipad. Anyway, I would recommend to anyone who finds reading text on screens hard on their eyes and works with PDFs.

I installed the app in my phone. I was happy. My phone broke so I reinstalled in my new phone but it just can't get my purchase restored. C'mon guys, I can't give you a good review for service!
  • Reads out letters not words

Bought to try and read a book whilst on the go, spends most of the time reading out the individual letters within a word rather than pronouncing the whole thing. Very disappointing
  • Not too bad

Will have to disagree with some of the bad reviews on here Yes it's not free, I paid for the uk English voice I have a lot of very large pdfs to read with no time to read them . So thought I'd try this so I could listen to them in the car. I would of expected a much more robotic voice than it actually is. Sounds half way between normal and robotic but definitely useable and understandable. I set it to 200 words per minute. Only a couple of annoying points , as it reads bullet points as "bullet" and doesn't like abbreviations. But in fairness they aren't words anyway so what do you expect. It would be good if you could add a manual feature where you can highlight areas you don't want it to read , like the header and footer, or the index pages, etc so it can jump straight into the content. Other than that I don't regret paying for this , as I did find there aren't many products of this nature on the market that are any good . There is room for improvement but it's good enough to warrant the cost

Awful. It can't do abbreviations or decimal point numbers. Sounds like a robot most of the time.

Only enhancements I'd suggest are that an image is present so listener can pause and view image. Also very slow on e.g. Or I.e.

You have to pay for every single pdf file you want it to read. Don't mind paying once, but not for every single pdf document I want it to read.
  • Excellent!

Been using it with 'To PDF' app almost for over a year now to listen to stuff that's too cumbersome to sit down and read. Excellent app that I've come to depend on.
  • Poor quality

Product is very poor quality. I bought the in purchase reader in English and it was a complete waste of money. It simply doesn't work. Reads for s few minutes before stopping and loosing voice. Don't waste money on this.

Very useful app, but as other reviewers mentioned, the controls and menus are difficult as they appear and disappear. Also, there seem to be an issue with having purchased a language on an iPad, I seem to have difficulties that being recognised when I'm downloading it to the iPhone.
  • Won't work free

Why are these apps advertised as free if you have to pay to make it work? How is that free? I don't mind paying for an app but I will never pay for something that tricks me into downloading it. Deleted.
  • Bug makes unusable

This could be a great app but there is a problem once I've pressed play the controls disappear and there is no way I can get them to reappear. The only way I can stop it playing is to forcibly close the app meaning I lose the point I'd got to. Not ideal. I've also reported the bug to the developers and asked for a refund of the voice I bought if it can't be fixed but have had no response whatsoever. I'm using an iPhone 6s so this may be the issue. This could be a great app so I'm just disappointed at the problem and lack of response from the developers :-(

  • Only Free To Download

You can download for free, but if you want to use it, you'll have to pay for it. A real con, I'm disgusted and deleted it 5 mins after installing it.
