Speak Spanish like you've always wanted to. You don’t sound like a robot when you speak in your mother tongue (no offence to real robots reading this), so why learn Spanish only to talk like one? We want to get you confidently speaking a language like you’ve always wanted to, not just memorising a list of words or learning sentences you’ll never use. Give us a go – your first lesson is free! LEARNING WITH BABBEL : • Made by humans – expert linguists are behind all of our courses. We keep them warm and well-fed. • Choose courses on topics you care about, and learn what matters to you. • 15 minute lessons (on average) – learn without upsetting your calendar (we know how sensitive it can be). • Progress is synced across all devices, and all content can be downloaded for offline use. So you can learn anytime and anywhere, except in your sleep (we’re still working on that technology). • Review Manager – helps you keep new vocabulary up there once you’ve learnt it. • Easy to use – simple and clear interface. • We’re also available on Apple Watch – another easy way to practice on the go. • Really good

I have had the occasional time when I can't understand why my pronunciation is wrong but, apart from that, I find it very helpful

I am very happy with Babbel. Learning properly is a slow process, but I'm in for the long haul. I had no illusions and therefore no disappointments.
  • Too fast and complicated too quickly

When you trial the first lesson for free, it gives the impression it's going to ease you in. I'm now feeling completely lost and frustrated and have spent about 5 hours on the app feeling none the wiser. 5% speaking is done by you, the rest is trying to spell words you have been shown once. It also creates conversations in which you have to try and understand whilst they speak in very fast, mumbled Spanish. Not a great app at all, complete waste of money. I should have gone with Rosetta Stone
  • Very poor

Tried it after having got in quite well with similar apps such a Duolingo. The speech recognition is hopeless. A native Spanish friend couldn't get it to recognise Hola after about 30 attempts. Useless.
  • Great partner with Duolingo.

This is a perfect match to Duolingo. Babbel has those extra tips that you really can't get unless you are married to a Spaniard.
  • Rubbish

I don't think you should have to pay to learn a language on a iPad. It's a joke. I would rather go on google translate than pay 7 pounds a month.
  • Good but could be better

For the price it is excellent, but a few little adjustments would make it better. Upgrades happen fairly often so....fingers crossed.

I've mostly enjoyed using Babbel. I've learned a lot of vocabulary and like that I can see and hear the words. The microphone is sometimes problematic which is frustrating and occasionally I feel it's more of the same and get a little bored. Generally however I think it's worthwhile.
  • OK but serious flaws

Just started and already it's driving me crazy. Often there is no way to get a repeat of what's been said. The speakers are much too fast and the audio quality is not great. And why start on grammar straight away? Language is learned from repetition not from understand the masculine and feminine pronoun endings. On the positive I like that I have to type even though learning the spelling is an extra thing to remember it does help to recall. A few tweaks would make this better and given the cost of a subscription against the free Duolingo I am wondering whether this it worth it. I certainly won't be renewing my 3 month subs.

The title proves the app, I couldn't say that if it wasn't an effective app for learning Spanish! Whilst I enjoy the app and it's definitely worth the premium, I do sometimes feel it is unforgiving, spell one letter in a whole sentence wrong and you get the answer wrong.
  • Rubbish for speaking Spanish in Spain

By customer support's own admission the pronunciation taught in the app is Argentinian, Colombian and Mexican. Makes you sound very odd in Spain. So if you visit Spain rather than Latin American, avoid.
  • Best on Market

This is a brilliant app. You work at your own speed and can redo the lessons as often as you like. I have the Complete, which gives me 14 languages for less than paying for two a year. And the support staff are brilliant. Totally recommend this app.

The prices they expect you to pay monthly are stupid. Not worth it at all !
  • PROBLEMS WITH APP UPDATE

Your app is the bestest language app I've ever seen. It's very good and very educative. My problem with the app is that when you update the app, you lose all the courses you downloaded and you have to start afresh. Which isn't correct. For those of us in Africa with huge internet problems, it's very stressful to start all over again downloading courses. Please look for a way to solve this problem.

I have previously rated this app 5 stars but due to the poor customer service downgrading it to 3. I changed my log in details on the laptop and since then no longer able to log in onto the app, it just doesn't recognise the new details and no longer allows to log in under old. I contacted the customers services on 2 different emails more than 24 hours hours and have had no response....and in a meantime I keep paying for the time (x3 courses) I cannot use the app. My previous review: Excellent and challenging, but not too much to give up. You can go through the course at your own pace and repeat the lessons as many times as you like. iPad and web versions are slightly different. If you make a mistake on a web version, it takes you to your mistakes at the end and allows you to try again. It also doesn't give a correction automatically so you can try and 'work it out' the answer, iPad version corrects you straight away and moves on.

Babbel is great if you are trying to learn a language from scratch. The courses are detailed and easy to follow. Absolutely worth the subscription fees.

Found the course poorly designed and almost incomprehensible if you are starting from scratch
