Pocketmags Digital Newsstand Reviews

  • Utter poo

I’ve had nothing but hassle with this app, you’re better off downloading the individual apps for each magazine. Customer support is appalling: the PocketMags website and app keep rejecting my password - which I know is entered correctly - so I can’t access any of the 8 magazines I subscribe to. 48 hours on from reporting it, not a dicky bird out of them. My advice is subscribe to the magazines you want separately through the Apple Store and avoid PocketMags like the plague: substandard app, customer support non-existent.
  • Just fine

After I had already purchased an annual subscription to a digital version of a sporting matchday programme, I found out which app I needed to use and subsequently read some of the reviews with a sinking heart. I must say that everything has worked very well and the app is easy to use. Easy to download new editions, easy to scroll through the pages, easy to zoom in on the images. Not sure whether this is the same for all subscriptions / titles, but credit where it is due from my experience. October 2017.
  • Space hogger, hard to delete content

It uses a lot of space on your device and working out how to delete old content is tough. The interface is slow and page reading unenjoyable. Print wins.
  • Keeps Crashing

I had to delete Pockmags Doctor Who Magazine because it kept crashing. This is hardly any better. If it could be fixed it would be a great app but it's been a year now & its as bad as ever.

First 3 issues fine. 4th.issue crashes every time. Opens on a page, will not let me move forward or back, then crashes after 2 seconds. Emailed Pocketmags and got a quick response, but their solution didn't work, so emailed them back and now NO response. So it looks like I've lost an issue I.e. 1/12 of my subscription!!!!
  • Doesn't work at all

Appallingly bad, won't let me log in, constantly saying no internet connection when I have full connection, even the website doesn't work either, waste of time.

Well done, update is quicker and looks much better than the previous version. iPhone support works great now

BEWARE......if you respond to their marketing offers regarding discounts this doesn't apply through Apple so they tell me. Poor customer service when issues raised and a general 'not my problem' attitude. Who needs them with Zinio and Readly anyway.....both good honest apps..!!
  • Works fine

I am happy with this app. It does give occasional trouble, but no more than anything else. It suits me just fine and gives me cheap access to mags I want on my tablet.
  • I am a subscriber..but using the 'interactive' issue in Safari..

    1
    By Garrrrry.
is an absolute pile! Always not opening and the 'interactive' element is crap. You are forever being put back to the first page and if you try to use the 'contents' listing that only works if pocketmags is in a good mood with you! You cannot use the split screen function on your iPad so you either have to read pocketmag or do something else. Do not DARE to not give you full attention to pocketmags etc. I hope Writing Magazine leave this platform and use Readly, then I can cancel...at least then I can use safari to read my mag as well as listen to Adam and The Ants on youtube at the same time!
  • Much improved

Seems more stable than previous updates. Also haven't seen the problem mentioned in previous review. All my magazines show two pages in landscape on my iOS 8 devices.

  • Very poor customer service - Avoid

The viewer seems fine on my Ipad Mini but unfortunately the customer service behind PocketMags is nothing short of diabolical and about the level of what we have learned to expect today.

They still your money only! Don't purchase anything because it's not working Very disappointed Want my money back
  • Missing subscriptions

It is not the easiest app to use but like other users I have paid for a subscription but it is not on my list of available magazines. This may change but on other magazine apps I use they show instantly for download.
  • Appalling app

I don't usually review apps however, I purchased a subscription that has been charged for and has not appeared in settings to cancel on auto renew. The website does not function correctly on an iPad. Stay away until these issues are fixed
