Lookout – Security, Backup and Missing Device Reviews

  • Lose the advert for premium

The app is useless. A designer somewhere thought it was a good idea to force an advert for the paid version as soon as the app opens. No one thought to include a close advert button. There is no way of getting rid of the ad rendering the whole app inaccessible.
  • Annoying

I like this concept, but the amount of spurious pings I get is beginning to get annoying. I'm buzzed 3-4 times and HOUR on the lowest setting, even though my phone is constantly on me. I am guessing this picks up on dips in bluetooth strength, and i'm beginning to wonder if the dips are normal for a bluetooth device, otherwise why the hell am I getting so many alerts? Other than this, the rest of the features are redundant, since they are already available in the Apple environment. I'd just like an app with the single feature of letting me know when my phone is not close to my watch. Update: permanently deleted. The one thing to was useful for, warning you when you walked away from your phone, has been removed, rendering the app completely useless. Thankfully I have another device that accurately warns me when I've left my phone behind, without the annoying fake warnings.
  • Just one glitch

Safe Wifi, for some reason, disconnects me from my home Wifi; when my iPod is in locked mode. That never happened before that function was introduced. Needs to be fixed.

Can't even get it on. Tried to sign up - email and password don't match!!
  • Useless application

Absolutely useless app, not worth installing. Contact are already backed up in iCloud, so you don’t need to share contacts with a 3rd party app. Secondly the developer is also misleading by stating iOS doesn’t have an option to send last location when battery is critically low. This is an available option in iOS.
  • Removed the only useful feature!

I (like many) downloaded this app for its ability to warn me on my watch when I was moving away from my phone. It did give false reports occasionally, but overall it was useful. Then the bloat began - first it was free security stuff, none of which was of any use whatsoever (accompanied with the tactic of let's scare everyone with horror stories so they will use our product) then they started wanting a monthly fee to use these useless features! But I persevered and just simply turned all the crap stuff off! Then they went and did an update that removed the only feature we actually wanted (because they cannot charge a subscription for it?) no warning, just bang feature gone, didn't even announce it in the upgrade text, we were left to find it hidden in the faqs! In my opinion, this is the worst kind of company, one that does not care or listen to its customers - my recommendation, avoid them and their apps!

    Would recommend
  • Won't alert you from iwatch

I got this app so if I left my phone my iwatch would alert me. Worked for a while and was a great app as many a time I left my phone behind and Lookout would message my iwatch. Now I've been told that the last patch disabled this! Why? This was the whole reason I got the app. Yes you can go into the website and find your lost/stolen phone but surely prevention is better with an alert to say you're phone is out of range.
  • Where's the watch alert gone?

I only installed this app for the watch / phone separation feature. It appears to have gone. Please bring it back even with its faults.

Got this app for iPhone out of range notifications. I turned them on and to "More Alerts". I walked until my watch was out of range and -- no alert.
  • Alerts so often it is useless

I'd really like something that would get my watch to tell me if I left my phone behind, and this promised to do just that. But it doesn't actually work. In the first 12 hours after I installed it, it warned me half a dozen times that my phone was about ot go out of range. But in fact, my phone was on never more than two feet from the watch... With so many false alarms, I gave up and deleted it...

This app is so, so great! I went on a website on safari and this ad thing came up saying I've got a virus on my phone and I need to download this weird anti virus thingy but I wasn't sure whether it was fake or not so I didn't click it. I came on the App Store to find a quick and easy-to-use anti virus app and thank god that I found this one! Thank you 😊

A bit buggy, needs the Bluetooth connection to be stable, zaps the battery too.
  • Good idea but...

... the notifications come up when my phone is about 10cm away from my watch. I've tried to reduce the sensitivity but still getting 5-8 notifications per day on my watch when my phone has been in my pocket or right next to me. Great idea in theory but not really working for me. I wanted the notification as soon as the red warning symbol comes up on the watch. Maybe apple will update the watch for this instead
  • Does exact what I want

I wanted a app that alerted me if I left my phone behind. Works great for this. Synced perfect with Apple Watch and warns me when looses connection with phone. Great tracker that tells you on Apple Watch how near your phone is. Ideal little app

Utter crap. It sends me an email and tells me my phone has been found when I've not lost it and it's in a location I've never been to. If I loose my signal for 2 seconds it tells me a week later my phones location...What good is that???? I've also installed it on my iPad 2 and I get constant reminders that my OS is out of date. This is incorrect as The iPad 2 is no longer able to install the latest OS. It's a good job it was free with my EE contract otherwise I'd demand a refund. As for the developers comments below, No, I won't get in touch as I no longer have this app on any device for the reasons I've already described.
  • Some Faults

I think this application is brilliant, that's why I have purchased 1 year premium. That being said, there are some minor faults. This application is definitely worth the download, and worth paying for the premium version, some improvements should be made though! 🙂 1. There isn't an option to remove deactivated devices from the lookout account. 2. I have experienced lag and unresponsiveness from the website version. 3. This application is capable of holding important and sentimental information, although it doesn't offer 2FA to help protect that data, I feel an extra layer of security should be added. 4. Inaccurate photograph counter, the website version conflicts with the application reading. The website, at times, shows 452 photographs stored, although the application will show 500.

Understand response to complaint from Darren but what's the point of issuing a feature that you know yourselves is useless!!

Absolute waste of time. Gives false readings. Phone is in my hand, inches from my Apple Watch yet every couple of minutes you receive a warning saying devices are almost out of distance. Deleted within 12 hours. Also, big drain on battery.
