  • Good app, horrible recent update

    I really loved Strava & use of a lot, but the recent update has f***ed the Feed up in 2 ways: 1: My activities are now illustrated by photos, rather than the map - as a route tracking app, activities should be all about the map, photos are a secondary thing 2: I can now only filter activities by me or people I follow - all my groups are gone

    Strava is insistent on becoming just another social media platform rather than its original intention. The athletic achievements of your peers are just lost among the noise and havoc or obscured by the time shifting algorithm. I used to be a huge fan and actually pay for the app but no more. Strava is lost in the sauce

    The 'biggest update of the year' and they can't even get the units of measurements to work right. Whether you select km or miles it shows in kilometres. As for the biggest update of the year, you really have to wonder what they do for the other 51 weeks of the year.

    Been using the app for over a year now and never really had a problem with it. I would like to make a suggestion about making a feature where users can private message each other. I know myself and loads of my friends would like that feature

    Have been using Strava for a few years now and find the app amazing for logging my progress on both cycling and running. I have never used the Apple watch or phone gps functions but link it to my Garmin GPS. As soon as my activity is done I link it to Bluetooth and it instantly uploads it allowing me to see a wealth of stats and compare with friends and like minded sports people. Truly superb.

    I’ve been using Strava for years and have always loved it. During a recent update however the app now records your first ride/run in a segment as a PR. This is new and in my humble opinion wrong. First attempt should be a benchmark (unless you’re on the leader board) and any subsequent achievements should be recorded with PRs.

    I have used this app for years. They have apparently just updated the app to show the activities now not in date order (that was secretly done wasn't it!) They "think" it's what we want. Yet another app ruined by being forced to do what they want rather than what the user wants. Time to find another app me thinks! Shame as it was a really good app!

    It’s far too easy for folk to become KOM/QOM by cycling instead of running and vice versa. There should be an easier way of reporting bogus KOM etc via the app rather than logging in via a desktop. Also there should a Similar routes time for cycling and not just for Running.

  • Apple Watch app needs serious work

    Have completed 3 workouts with the apple watch app... and am hugely disappointed with the accuracy. I wait outside before my run with the app open to lock GPS signal, start, run, and my whole run the pace figure is wildly wrong. I’ve synced the data with Strava on my phone only to see single every KM almost a minute faster than the pace the app shows as the average for the entire run. Clearly it’s got some serious bugs. Latest run listed an average pace of 5:30 per km, while every km on my segment break down was under 4:40. Come on Strava, people have been complaining about the accuracy since the 2nd apple watch... sort it out.

    The app is good but the version on the Apple Watch is not great. When you push the start button it doesn’t always start meaning that you miss the beginning part of your run while you frantically push it until it starts. Since the recent update the watch locks so that you can’t see your time, this didn’t happen before, and so you then frantically try to type in your passcode while trying to keep up your running pace. When the run is finished you get times that don’t make sense or record. For example I got a fastest mile but the app didn’t recognise it. I also got a total run time which was lower than the 5k time that it recorded. All in all this app could be great but I am considering moving to a different app which works.

    I’d been riding with Strava free for about 2 years and loved it. So last year I paid for it for the additional features. Linked my account to my Garmin 235 watch and LOVED IT.

    Strava makes sure I complete my exercise. Goal setting, segments and checking out how my friends are doing is great for making me head out in the evenings. It's also great syncing with my Garmin app so my activities are easily uploaded.

    As someone who is training for a Marathon - Strava has been and is invaluable to me on my runs. It helps keep me motivated with the verbal updates as I'm jogging and let's me know if I need to increase or decrease speed and effort- I highly recommend it.
  • Good app for commuting/getting started

    App is great for commuting or getting started but lacks some essentials if you want to use it as an in ride computer seriously. For example you cannot use popular power meters for both power and cadence, they only show cadence in ride. You also cannot calibrate external devices using this app or use some of the features that are only available via ANT+ (although of course this is not Strava's fault, just unfortunate). But all in all very easy to use, I used this app for 18 months with a quadlock cycling over 50 miles per week. Was a great way to get into cycling and I still use it daily for commuting.

    Been using Strava for years with cycling and now use for running. Great to see how far I've run, and the progress I'm making on my splits. Keeps track of your new personal records, and has challenges you can join. Overall really happy with this app 👍
