SkyView® - Explore the Universe Reviews

  • Free version is better

    By greatOsiris
I had the free version , which was great , the only problem was that the augmented reality option did not work , i wanted the black screen option ,so I thought the full version should have it , but no , can’t see any difference between the two
  • Update needed.

    By Benstown
Brilliant app to use. Urgently needs to be updated. Compass is completely out at times. 50% of satellites do not appear on the screen. Only giving 4star as it lacks updates on the paid version.
  • A Noob Review

    By ThermalSteve
Recently started getting into astrology and astronomy through a loved one and thought I’d give this app a go. Thinking it might be a tad gimmicky, I went in to it with a slightly universe half empty mentality. Boy was I wrong. As a companion with some of the books I’ve been reading to get into the ‘onomy and ‘ology of Astro greatness, it’s perfection. Obviously I’m a newbie so I can’t review the technicalities but I will say this : if you’re reading up on the stars and planets and wish you could visualise what you’re reading with your own eyes, this is a stunning way to make it a reality. If it were a constellation it would be called the dogs danglies. ❤️❤️❤️
  • Superb app

I have used this app for a couple of years now. I am curious about space stuff and have learned so much since purchasing it. It's a great app to show to the kids too. Easy to use and very educational.
  • Timeless

What an excellent little app this is! When I say little it’s just the space it takes, the app itself is massive!!! It has to be the best I’ve used to date! Just give it a download and if you have any interest in the sky above day or night, then this app is for you
  • Best star gazing app

For a beginner this app is everything I could ask for. Really worth paying the money for the extra features. Couldn't be happier :)

  • Quite A Good App

    By Paul6230
I've got quite a few apps like this, paid and free ones and this one is one of the decent ones. I quite like the augmented reality feature in it and the ease of access to the settings and changing the screen to red for saving your ' night vision ' for viewing the night sky. I'd highly recommend this app to anyone who is fascinated by the night sky or has an interest in astronomy like myself. Great app worth downloading !
  • Great fun and informative

    By RichAndrews
I love this app, and often get it out to show friends at the end of warm summer evenings in the garden. Recently I was invited to stay on a yacht, and anchored away from almost any man-made light pollution, the night sky came alive. Thanks to this app, we were not only enthralled by the stunning view, but we felt more connected with the universe!

This app is the best I have seen, my grandson loves it and has learnt so much from it.
  • Wish I'd stuck with free version.

    By Janzi234567
I had the free version for quite a while and was quite happy with it, then was coerced into upgrading by the app itself. Since then I've not been happy with the full version, I think I'll delete and start again. As far as I am concerned there's no use paying for something you may not need.

    Useful app for astronomer
  • That's Mars!

    By Neverausten
Its a super amateur astronomers phone app for identifying whats in the night sky. Some reviews complain rightly that the auto compass calibration is poor but this is simply resolved using settings /calibration /manual, point at an obvious object like the moon & slide the screen left or right to sync the object with the screen view as per the screen instructions. It works fine. I love it and happy when i can say "that Mars" or "that's Jupiter" with confidence. Even found the ISS with it.
  • Awful!

    By Me19802345
Absolutely awful! I've downloaded the free version and the paid version and each time I open the app on my phone I am only resented with one standalone image of a random set of stars pre-selected by the app itself. I move my camera around and around to find other stars and planets however nothing changes on the screen. This has not proved user friendly at all. I still cannot get it to work
  • Wowsers!

Got the app space debris. So much of it...Excellent app, makes you think how much mess we've made in space already.
  • Awesome App for Stargazing!

    By TassieTim
Just used this app on the dark farmland nearby. Absolutely amazing to finally identify the stars and objects above my head. Highly recommended.
  • Amazing app apart from one bug.

    By magneticman245
This app is perfect for an amateur astronomer such as myself! While not so useful for identifying things already seen in the sky, it is amazing for locating specific objects. The ability to search by categories such as planets and satellites means you can easily find out what there is to see in the sky that you want to look at. Also the feature of pushing the time forward is great for planning what to look at when night time comes. Unfortunately, on the paid version of this app the compass orientation is completely broken, and never correctly points to north. This can be set manually, which must be done every time the app opens, and is obviously less accurate than the app doing it automatically. I often find myself using stars or planets to try and orient the app correctly. If this bug were to fixed, I couldn't fault the app and it would deserve five stars for sure.
