Walkmeter Walking & Hiking GPS Reviews

  • Love it. Stats, stats and more stats

Got this today and already upgraded to the full version. Has stats for everything I can think of. Great that I can compare a route from one day to the next. Didn't seem to use too much battery (iPhone 6 plus). I used to use Map my Walk, but this has more features that I like. Great UI, great UX, great integration.
  • Adverts?

What's happened to this app? I haven't used it for many months. Now all of a sudden it's opening games when I click done. I paid nearly £12 for this. I was not told when I bought this app that it was subscription based.
  • Adverts 😡

I understand the app includes adverts. However, it's making the screen smaller with a advert banner across it.
  • Home button bug

I like this app but it has a serious bug regarding the home button, if you happen to press it accidentally or wish to read an email you've just received it stops tracking your walk for some reason, needs sorting.

Great app use it when cycling, running and walking its easy to use has everything you need it is the most practical and user friendly App I've used and I've tried a few, also the customer service is excellent which is unusual these days, I had a minor problem with it and they sorted it within an hour, 5 stars

    Excellent, worth every penny.
  • Inaccurate

No In-purchase as listed, it's an annual subscription and they do not bother to contact you on renewal or prior to renewal. Agree with other comments regarding 'closing down'.

For some reason whenever you use another App, Walkmeter shuts down which is seriously annoying. Added to that there is now an even more annoying interruption up dammed adverts! The App used to be 5* now it's 1* and I'm looking for something else. Very sad!

Excellent app. Accurate record of walk with excellent map. E mails myself and wife when I start and finish the walk as I have cardiac heart disease very useful when I walk alone that she is always aware my location. Favourite walks recorded for later reference. Well worth getting the paid version. Distance walked is accurate. 12th March 2017 update. What great support Walkmeter has given me. My cardiac problems got worse last year hence I did not renew my elite version as not waling very much however now fixed and a bit better soI am back walking again have had a few problems with the free version, no problems now as sorted by Support Centre which means a lot, I will certainly be purchasing the elite version when back to full fitness. Have recommend this app to friends but they have been put off by the £9.99 cost.
  • New version is not good!!

Having used this for some time now, I'm seriously looking for an alternative- the ads on launch (for which I understand the need for a free app) relaunch themselves after you've started your walk with the phone in your pocket - which means the app is interrupted and doesn't track that walk- seriously buggy and awful, not to mention irritating!! Not properly tested!!
  • Unreliable

Tracking stops when Internet connection is lost, which is understandable. What is worse, it doesn't resume automatically when the connection is restored. The same happens even when the phone switches between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Very unreliable.

Was using fine for few weeks until the latest up date now it turns its self off when phone goes to sleep and fails to record anything.

Really like this app. Simple to use and my walk details are put on my calendar so I have a log of how far I go each day.
  • Outstanding!

If I were restricted to only one app then this is the one I'd choose.

I have used this app since it was introduced. I have recorded over 1000 long walks, in detail. I have transferred historical data from my old phone to my new phone without issue. If I am unsure of my position the little dot on the map showing where I am and my starting point is very useful.
  • Why change it when it works well

I've been using this app for years and have found it useful and fun. Almost every time I use it now it crashes. A bit sad to get to the end of a long walk and find out it stopped halfway there!

I downloaded this as an alternative to Map My Walk to see what it could do. I used it for about 5 days and during that time it made one error that I really couldn't understand, messing the details of a walk up and recording both the messed up one and a correct version at the same one. The in-app advert to upgrade was so persistent that I gave up and dumped the app in favour of MMW.
